Some work on the house and a fantastic Caribbean dish!

We're both breakfast people. Today, it was eggs, toast, and the last of the blood oranges. Now let's get to work on the house!
We've been tearing up the floor for our plumber, Steve. We should have plumbing soon--he's been busy recently due to the frigid temperatures and many pipes freezing and bursting in the area. Here's our kitchen:

Laundry room
Bathroom. Quite a bit of work to be done yet..
Today, though, it was over 40 and sunny--so we decided to stay outside and finish painting the house. Orange!

Tavo, Sprayer Extraordinaire!

Yep, it's bright.
And we decided to try one of Cynthia's fantastic dishes from her blog, "Tastes Like Home." She recently published a cookbook, as well. We tried the Stewed Pork with Lima Beans from her recent post. Tavo was floored--it was FANTASTIC! Definitely, we have to make Caribbean food more often. Thank you, Cynthia!

I love breakfast too, but I'm always too lazy to make it... especially during the week, when we have to run out the door.

I like the orange, btw... looking good. The pictures remind me of these remodeling shows. I was hooked on those when we had TV.

I know I have said this before, but I have those exact same T'jay plates. I keep a basic white set and many salad plates.

But yes, totally agree breakfast is so versatle...totally looks spelled wrong?

All these open floors, and stripped walls brings back memories! This year we've had our house for ten years, and there has been several long periods with temporary solutions and life in the middle of a building sight!

Alex--yeah, during the week our breakfasts are much more...rushed! Smoothies or a quick bowl of cereal.

Doggy--It has certainly been a theme!

Tommie--I love those plates! You obviously have superior taste :)

Anette--it is crazy! We have to warn people to be careful if they come over!

Your house is bright and I like that it will stand out and not look like the other homes on the block. That chicken dish looks so appetizing!

Now I can find your house so easily, because that is my favorite color! I got married in a burnt orange gown...I looked like a giant orange coming down the isle, but hey its my color!

Food looks good, I will have to give that a try!

Love the paint job Lini especially the trim contrasting w/ the orange. Is it cream and a sagey green or is it more of a yellow? Yummy lookin' food, I'll have to check out Cynthia's blog.
love Em

The orange is awesome! I really like the contrast with the dark leaved tree in front. Is it a magnolia?
