sad

I feel sick. I usually don't use this blog for social commentary, but there have been two murders in our community in the last week. Both are devastating to me.

John Henderson, a bar tender at the Standard in Grant Park was fatally shot last week by thieves when they were closing up. The bar was robbed as well.

Last night, a man, approached a couple outside a bar in East Atlanta to rob them. The victim shot the robber 5-6 times, killing him.

It's all just awful to me. Even though robbery is wrong, especially robbery with a gun--violence and death are not the solutions to this problem. This is not right, regardless of who is at fault.

Two people in the past week, right here, have been killed. I don't really know what to say, but I know in my heart that this is not right.

problem is I am forever reminded of a bumper sticker I saw once that said "if guns are outlawed then only outlaws will have guns"

I dont usually educate myself through bumper stickers but on some occasions.....well....

I'm not usually a big gun person,,,but hey, the world aint what it used to be...and if someone tried to rob me and I had a gun...I'd probably do the same thing...cept I'd shoot then in the dick.

Thats horrible the fact that it happens with in your community, all the stories on the news have an effect on you but after an event like you describe it hits in a different area within, almost a feeling "it could happen to me." taking away that apparent distant world of awful that the news makes feel so far away.

the thing is we tried to pretend this stuff doesn't happen. but the reality is these things occur daily in bankhead, westend, or even around east atlanta.

as times get harder people become more desperate.
