Butternut Squash Curry...a work in progress

I haven't quite decided if I like this curry or not...I'm waiting to see how it is tomorrow. Hope I like it because there is a veritable vat of it.

So, here is the creation of the mystery curry. Tavo found an enormous butternut at the market, and brought it home.

I puzzled with the whole peeling aspect...

Tavo's assistance was required, as always, to split the squash. He is the official squash halver.

Witness the master at his trade...

There was so much squash that we cubed and froze about half!
Lima beans, cooking.

Squash, onion, curry spices, tomato...
Mix together now. Hmmm...that looks suspiciously like frozen mixed vegetables...

Coconut milk

Verdict? It's decent. I really need to wait until tomorrow to see how the flavors blend, ultimately.

Just a ponder:

I probably shouldn't even talk about this here, but I'm watching the movie "Ballast" and thinking about crime. There is a ton of robberies around here--our neighborhood is the more affluent one in this area. We've even had our house broken into twice--luckily, there isn't much to steal (unless you like books). If you watch the news and such, you'll see that the vast majority of house robberies are done by teenagers. Usually, they're tried as adults, and their life is written for them. What is this? Why is this? Has it always been this way?

how do I say - dont do the crime if you cant do the time' but that isnt really the answer - these kids need mentors - f them up before they f you up and you won that round - trust me I was once that kid and now I am 49 - dont ask me how

I hope your curry turns out well. It looks mighty delish.

As for crime. I don't know. I"m fortunate that my neighborhood doesn't have any of that to deal with *knock on wood* It's a scary thought.

Dish sure looks pretty..
Crime- Kids today have less opportunity, are poor, and more of them come from broken homes, than ever before.. Warren Buffet was asked by a business school student about Ethics.. He said something to the effect that if you didn't have them before Business College, you probably wouldn't learn them there either..

That's terrible your house was robbed! We're fortunate enough to not have that much crime here--of course, everyone here has guns!

Tavo is really good with a knife! if I would have done that I would have hacked that poor squash to death. Your made a wonderful meal!

Crime..I guess it's the economy and so many children coming from borken homes and don't have anyone to teach them the right way. They are just too lazy to work for the things they want...it's easier to steal.

I love winter squash, although I usually season it on the sweet side.

As for crime, well, we are in a tiny town off the beaten path and the police chief lives in one of the houses abutting our back yard. I am of the same mind as Dog and as Katherine, and, like Duckie, we are also armed. And, like you, I have a lot of stuff, but nothing really worth stealing (what - they were going to make off with a bunch of sofas and dishes???). If I knew all the answers, I could be appointed queen of the world, right? Ha, ha!

It looks great...did the flavor improve??? Develop??? Crime...I don't know what they're thinking...it baffles me. So sad.

Doggy--I was that kid, too. Haven't figured it out.

Jenn--it was good, but nowhere near what my coworker brought in. You guys tried Blue Mountain Curry? She swears that's all it is, but I think there's more ;) (yah, I'm talking to you, Glenda!!)

Buff--I'm just curious--wide range of geographic readership, here. Are kids just kids or are some kids just bad? People are poor pretty much everywhere, in parts.

5-Star--it did, but I would up the curry and use tortillas instead of rice

Blonde and Marjie--well, Tavo has a gun but I would never touch it. I'd rather just be shot than have it on my conscious. I don't mean that in any sort of impolite or disrespectful manner. I mean, you are talking to someone who doesn't even eat chickens. But I do love squash.

Katherine--how can we change it? On a different subject--Tavo is adept with a chef knife ;)

Girli--it wasn't my favorite. Kid, I just get stuck on these things. South Bend is close to Gary--have they made any breakthroughs?

I am just feeling lost.
