So--here's our house.
and the inside.
and here is the culprit behind the fire....
neighbor's house
So, you see, it really could be MUCH worse!! We decide to make the most of it.
And the view from our hotel. Westin is still waiting for windows that were blown out by the tornado last St. Patrick's day.
Not too shabby, eh?
We're getting more than our fix of HGTV! (It's actually kind of ridiculous to watch this much HGTV)
and I get to cook again :) Pasta with every vegetable we had and some cheese, too.

Oh my dear, it's so good to hear from you again... *HUGS* You guys are being such troopers about the fire, very inspiring!
I sure wish I had some kind of "go with the flow" award to give you guys because you sure are handling this like champions...
oh damn. that pasta looks good. shoot!!!!!
wow....totally agreeing with doggybloggy!
I hope your neighbors are paying for the damage!
I seriously am sorry you guys have to be put through this. It will make a tale worth telling, and re- telling through the years. People don't remember the good days when nothing went wrong, they remember the bad days- and how they got through them- with making the best of a bad situation... Looks like you two are going to be just fine!
P.S.- You'll be a better cook when this is over- limited resources bring out the creativity in you!
It just breaks my heart that all the hard work you put into your house was partially destroyed and you're living in a hotel. Hugs to both of you because you have such a wonderful attitude about it all. I hope your house makes it as an HGTV episode!
Oh I feel so sorry for you! But you seem to keep a good spirit!
I've always been so afraid of fire, when I was little I used to have nightmares of burned houses like that! But it'll be ok again!
Holy Shit!
I've never been in a fire, I'm happy you guys are okay. That's supper close. So what happens, is the neighbor paying the damages?
Glad you guys are okay!
Oh my.. Oh my... your house is pretty damaged... hopefully it can be renovated and back (or even better) to normal again.
Oh my goodness! I'm so glad you guys weren't hurt, and it is "just" the house. And, oh dear, that hotel looks very sweet! :)
Jesse--thanks!! We are super troopers, actually ;) You should see us fight giant insects.
Dog--thanks!! We have a project up our sleeve which should be unveiled later this evening....
Beth--it WAS good. I never tire of pasta :)
Tommie--thanks!! We have something keeping us happy--will reveal in next post..
Blonde--you know it!!
Buffalo--now that the shock is over, I think everything is going to be all right :)
Katherine--me too! I could use some HGTV fame ;)
Anette--me too!! Luckily no one was hurt and it wasn't that bad!
Alex--we're letting our insurance company go after their company. It's been a whirlwind of a week!
Selba--I think it will. I'm excited about a new roof!
Food Librarian--thanks! Yes, the hotel is pretty cool :)
It is really commendable that you're in good spirits. I hope everything goes well with the insurance companies.
I'm addicted to Decorating Cents on HGTV. It's totally not my style of decorating but the show is entertaining anyway.
Don't drop the fire thing, It's the part of your life and your blog keeps me up to date.
What a bummer about the house and you just painted the house red :)
I want to see more of the pictures. Is there a place I can see them, or maybe I should just come by for a change huh?
Did I tell you that Ryan and I are engaged? He proposed on Sunday :)
OMG--Congratulations Tanja!!! Yes, you guys should come by!! As soon as we get our new little house completely fixed up, we're having a party. But feel free to come by this weekend, we're just working on the houses. I'm so happy for you guys :D
I am going to come cook you guys a meal for royalty one day...I am giving you the 'Law of Attraction' award for being so positive...this is not always the way we want to learn to handle hardship, but hey being 'tough' is not so bad, and you two are great together, what a team!
Thanks Chef E!
