Caribbean food and some good news!

Yesterday, we went to Taste Of Tropical Caribbean Restaurant (couldn't find a website) on Lee Street in Atlanta's West End and it was FANTASTIC!! I ordered the Curry Tofu with yellow rice, broccoli, and plantains. Tavo wanted some macaroni and cheese, so we got that too. Wow! Really excellent, portions were huge and the price was right. This is the first time EVER that I have seen Tavo scarfing down tofu, saying, "This is delicious!" Very vegetarian and vegan friendly, and there is also a good selection of seafood, chicken, oxtails, goat, coco bread, stew, jerk etc.

So--did we eat our delicious food at the hotel? Nooooo--we have been working on our little fixer upper house. And it is coming along! Nothing like a fire to get focused on finishing up the house!

Here's Tavo, watering our plants

The plumbing has been roughed in, so we're going to work on insulating and replacing the floors over the weekend.

This is the other biggie--we put down hardwoods!! If you are in Atlanta and need an contractor for hardwoods, our guy is excellent! He and his partner put this down in one day.

Lo and behold, we have a bedroom.

Such a difference from before!

the rest of our stuff is still waiting to be put away, but we're working on it. We're so excited to have a home!

I am so impressed at the pace in which your fixer upper is progressing. I know it may seem slow to you and you want out of the hotel, I'm sure. The wood floors look fantastic. My brother livesin Douglasville, I'll have tell him.

The food looks yummy too!

Doggy--yeah, really is extremely fortunate!

Alex--its crazy, huh? We bought a little fixer upper for 14K in December, with intentions of slowly fixing it and eventually renting it. Turned out to be a fantastic investment!

Buffalo--its mostly Tavo. I'm so lazy and tired--all I want to do is sleep!

Katherine--thanks! It seems like it is taking FOREVER, but honestly, things are moving along. I'm just so ready for a normal routine--its surprising to me!

love wood floors! A Swiffer and some Murphy's oil soap is all they need.

I am sure you are ready for the creature comforts of home!

So how long will it take the 'crispy' fixer upper back to its original shape before the fire? My friend in Galveston Texas lost much of her first two floors in an original 1900's house to that hurricane last year, and it took forever to start getting the money from insurance and stuff...she ended up moving back to the mid-west for relaxation and another fixer upper...I mean it I am driving down and cooking you guys some good food!

Fitnessista--thanks! Yeah, I could do curry tofu and plantains frequently :)

Jesse--slobber indeed!!

Tommie--you know it! I have OLD OLD wood floors in the other house--these are a breeze to clean!

Blonde--thanks!!

Chef E--things are going SLOWLY. Especially as its in the historical district--have to go to hearings and such to do any work!

The floors look fantastic and I love how the blue chairs pop against the orange on the front porch.
