Challah and that house is going DOWN!

Oh dear--do you ever make something that is SO GOOD that you eat too much of it? I made a loaf of challah last night, and we sat down to watch season two of Weeds (we just rented season one a couple days ago and fell in love with the show!) Forty minutes later, I looked down and was shocked to see that we'd eaten almost the entire loaf!! Sheesh! At any rate, this is obviously an excellent loaf of bread.

A bit of a lumpy braid--but I made the small loaf of bread. I'll try a full size loaf next time, and see how my braid looks, then. Recipe from Electric Bread was used, subbing sesame seeds for poppy seeds.

So...remember that enormous fire that occurred way back in February? After numerous calls to the owner of the burned out house, calls to the city, calls to the demo company, and in general mayhem...its FINALLY being torn down. We have had a LOT of problems with homeless and vagrants so I am very, very pleased that this scary heap is going away.

This will no longer be our view from the window!

Got a bit precarious, but luckily, the side of this house didn't crash down on us. The demo guy came around and pushed it away from our house. I was scared!

Supposed to be down completely by the end of the week! (we'll see....)

I'm off to Chicago for a week for work, but Tavo will stay in Atlanta and hold down the fort. Happy Wednesday, everyone :)

I do that every time I make banana bread. I nibble, nibble, nibble, and the next thing I know, the loaf has magically disappeared!! I have to make it and take it to work or I will eat it all! :P

After all the work you guys did-I think *I* would cry if something else happened to your house.

Have fun in Chicago! I am planning on taking the chilis on a weekend trip for fun to Chi-town next month! :)

i haven't tried making Challah yet, but I love the taste.

Glad to see that house finally being torn down. That's not a really pretty sight to see every day.

Have a great time in Chicago.

Your braid looks pretty to me! Email me, and I'll tell you how my patio got installed. I'm sure you guys could do it (by that I mean Tavo, of course, with some excellent supervision)! Now that the eyesore is gone, a patio in the back yard would be wonderful!

That bread does look gorgeous! I don't think I could have stopped either.

I am surprised it has taken this long for that house to be torn down.

Have fun, safe travels.

Have you been living next to that!!? It must be such a relieve to get rid of it! And the loaf: No wonder it all went!

Yikes! I bet it is a relief to have that gone! I could definitely make waste of that loaf, too! I luv Weeds and am waiting for Season 4 to be available at my library...so far it's ALWAYS checked out :( Chicago is close to me...

I swear you two are a "reality show" waiting to happen.... "The Adventures Of Tavolini" would be a great name for it, too! Went to a Farmer's Market after hospital today, and they were getting $6.00 a loaf for Challah bread! I told them I'd give them five, but had to throw in Jesus.... :)

Ben's obsessed with challuh bread. Every time we go to Austin, we have to get it from the Jewish bakery.
