frozen pipes

Let's hope for a thaw in Atlanta today.

Good thing Tavo is handy with solder

**ad lib Pipes are fixed!! Tavo cut and coupled in a new piece of pipe...and it works! Hooray :)

I hope you removed the broken part and coupled a piece in its place - if you tried to solder over the crack it wont hold...

That recently happened to me too. Except it wasn't frozen. Just a pipe that finally gave way and made for a really big cleanup.

Holy cow! We expect it to be cold here, so our basement is insulated well. Other than someone making an error and cutting into a pipe with a sawzall once, we've never had a broken pipe. But, heed Dog's words of wisdom!

And it was 4 degrees here this weekend, with highs around 12. So you are not alone.

Oh no! We have had -18 C here a couple of days, and very cold since Christmas, but our pipes are still in one piece (knock on wood)

I hope it gets a little warmer all around the country!

Wow you know when I lived up north I never saw a pipe actually burst, but I've seen several burst down here, how strange! Hope it's not expensive!

today is the first day we've been above freezing since New Year's. I've been worried about our pipes, but thank goodness we've been ok and we're starting to warm up!

Doggy--yep, he did! A bit messy, but that's just what happens.

Jenn--sorry to hear that!! Broken pipes are the big no fun :(

Marjie--our crawl space is NOT well insulated. I did put insulation on all the pipes when we bought the house, but this is the coldest weather Atlanta has had in YEARS. We even had a space heater in the crawl space...to no avail.

Anette--I'll knock wood for you too ;) Hope it warms up! This has been a COLD winter.

5 Star--amen!

Alex--yeah, the South is not equipped for this ridiculousness. I'm glad Gustavo could just fix it on his own!

Katherine--drip 'em. That was our fatal flaw--I didn't drip during the day.
